A Serene Invite

Oil On Linen Canvas

70 x 90cm

‘A Serene Invite’ was a moment captured whilst exploring the Sonsbeek Park in Arnhem, the Netherlands. The comfort of the moment is reflected in the warm tones breathing life into swans and the geese. When I walked behind the trees, the view of the water and the birds was majestic, fantastical. I was enveloped in the green light bouncing off the leaves around me. I wanted to create this feeling of a fantastical place right here on earth, and I chose to communicate this with bold, unusual colours to depict the trees.

In the months since I’ve moved to the Netherlands, I’ve fallen in love with the inviting nature surrounding me. One of the warmest feelings I’ve ever experienced is the realisation that the animals in the park recognise me, and always stops to say hello.
